Spike Lee finally combines his two passions - the social fabric of the inner city and the game of basketball - in one film. Denzel Washington plays a convict in jail for killing his wife. On the outside, his son, Jesus Shuttlesworth, known as "The Jesus of Coney Island," (and played by hoopster Ray Allen) is a hot basketball prodigy whose name sits atop all the college recruiting lists. The people in power promise the killer a lighter sentence if he can convince his son to play ball for the Governor's alma mater. He's got a rough road ahead of him since that son wants nothing to do with the father who killed his mother. NBA players who appear in the film include Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Travis Best and Shaquille O'Neal. 112 minutes.
